Title: Creating an Action Plan for an Agroecological Baltic Sea Region Vision (AE-Pro-Vision)
Funding source: Swedih Institute, Baltic Sea Neighbourhood Programme
Topic: Environment, Food
Grant Agreement No. 00141/2024
Total funding: SEK 1 000 000 / EUR 88431.09 (BSC SEK 300 800 / EUR 26 500)
Implementation period: 1 September 2024 – 31 December 2025 (16 months)
Coordinator: Svensk Kolinlagring AB (Sweden)
Aim: Current socio-economic disparities, climate change, and environmental degradation threatens societal stability and well-being. Agriculture, a major contributor to these issues, needs to be transformed to become part of the solution rather than being a problem. Agroecology (AE) is a widely acknowledged, stakeholder inclusive and holistic problem solving pathway that gets more and more established within EU and national policies, research and practice. AE relies on solutions that work together with nature rather than against it, while including peoples needs and wishes. Looking at agroecology as a science, practice, and social movement, the project addresses the challenge of developing an agroecological food system transformation in Baltic Sea neighboring countries towards true sustainability. The project aims to catalyse a cooperative effort across Baltic Sea countries, engaging stakeholders from various sectors and creating a methodology for fruitful stakeholder engagement to set the ground for developing a joint Baltic Sea region vision for an agroecological transformation of our food systems, shaping policies, research and practices for a resilient future.
